Sims 3 arrived June 2, 2009
My 1st impressions - it's great.
My Sims 3 arrived in the mail right on time - June 2nd.
That was a great surprise, since I live in a small town & didn't expect to see it that soon.
I am impressed with Amazon.ca, which we pre-ordered the game from. The last time we ordered a piece of software (Photoshop Elements) it arrived in the mail the next day. Been unbelievably great service from them.
Sims 3 - my first impressions - great. It has a lot of the features that we got gradually through new expansion packs in Sims 2, plus other features that one had to use cheats for in Sims 2. Such as being able to place objects so much easier. You don't need the cheats that were needed in the old game. Items are easily placed at 45 degree angles and off grid. Placing photos on walls is much easier.
It is easy to recolour clothing, furniture & wallpaper right in the game. (I do wish that there was an eyedropper though, it would make colour matching a lot easier, as it took awhile to match the wallpaper & bedspread in the home I was trying things out in.
The only problem with having Body Shop & Homecrafter right in the game, is that it doesn't take long to slow the game down to a crawl. Make sure you go into Windows Task Manager & stop any services or processes that are running that you don't need.
The basic controls for moving around the game & finding needs etc. are very much the same as in Sims 2, but there are more of them. You can move at different angles so much easier.
These are my first day impressions.
I am adding downloads frequently, so keep checking back for more.
